Torrington woman pleads guilty in kidnapping case

- By Ben Lambert

TORRINGTON — A Torrington woman is set to serve six years in prison in connection with a November 2016 incident in which a juvenile male was kidnapped, robbed and assaulted.

Isamar Dirocie, then 26, of 591 Prospect St., was arrested in December. 2016 and charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery, risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault, breach of peace, possession of a dangerous weapon and tampering with evidence.

She pleaded guilty to second-degree kidnapping and risk of injury Friday in connection with the case, as well as counts of intimidating a witness and thirddegree assault in separate files.

The pleas were entered under the Alford doctrine, in which a defendant does not admit guilt but concedes there is enough evidence to secure a conviction at trial. Such pleas result in a finding of guilt by the court.

According to an affidavit, Dirocie held a knife to the throat of a juvenile male, struck him, forced him to strip off his clothing, took his watch and phone and transported him to her home where he was assaulted by other individuals.

The male had brokered a deal between Dirocie and another juvenile, during which she was sold rock salt instead of the “molly” she sought. “Molly” is another word for ecstasy.

According to the affidavit, after the assault had concluded, Dirocie told the juvenile he was coming with her, and gave him clothing to wear.

They left in her car and drove around. At some point, Dirocie apologized to Juvenile 1 for “ruining his night.”

They returned to the home, and after Dirocie began to argue with another person, the juvenile ran away.

State Attorney David Shepack said Friday that Dirocie had hired an emissary from prison, who attempted to intimidate a coconspirator in the November 2016 incident from testifying as a witness.

Dirocie was also charged with third-degree assault as the result of a separate physical altercation, he said.

As part of a plea agreement with the state, Dirocie is set to be sentenced to 18 years in prison, suspended after six years, with five years probation.

The case was continued until June 1 for sentencing.
