Learn to knit a stuffed bunny
It will be all about bunnies at In Sheep’s Clothing, 10 Water St, from now up till Easter. There is no need to purchase a commercially made stuffed toy rabbit, when you can knit your own, in time for your little one’s Easter basket.
If you have the most basic of knitting skills, and can knit a square, you can make up a fast and easy stuffed bunny that is really quite cute.
The following link has the pattern and how-to to help you complete yours. This would also make a great project for you and a child to make together. http://gina-michele.com /2016/05/one-square-stuffedbunny-knitting-pattern-2.html
For those of you wishing to make the featured bunny, a special three hour bunny workshop is being offered at the shop, Sunday, March 11, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants need to have basic knitting skills, and will learn the skills required to knit and assemble a bunny. The sweet cottontail, designed by Julie Williams, of Little Cotton Tails, is not difficult when worked step by step, but does require attention to details, which is what makes this little bunny so captivating.
The project is worked on worsted weight yarn, knit on smaller needles for a firm fabric. The pieces are all worked flat, requiring careful seaming.
Some of the techniques that students will learn are to knit shaped pieces by increasing and decreasing, following a pattern, and working the mattress stitch for seaming pieces together. Students can also choose to knit a girl or boy bunny. Kits are available for purchase without taking the workshop.
Participants need to pre-register for the class, and choose a bunny yarn pack before class. Please call 860-482-3979 to register and for more information.
