A network, entertainment ‘Kaleidoscope’
WOODBURY — Finding a unique way to bring likeminded creative individuals together in an engaging format was the spark that drew Arts & Culture Collaborative members Sheree Marcucci and Douglas Bibbey together to plan an upcoming event dubbed “Kaleidoscope.”
The networking and performance event for the creative community and its followers will take place on March 27 at 6 p.m. at Woodbury Brewing Company, 738 Main St South, Woodbury.
As Governing Council members of the ACC, Marcucci and Bibbey were seeking a way to create a fun event that celebrates the arts and the creative mind, while encouraging the arts community and the public to attend the organization’s quarterly networking events.
“There are elements of creativity in every aspect of life. We wanted to create something to bring joy to anyone who attends, whether an arts practitioner or an auto mechanic, because both take a mind that can find solutions and make something better,” said Marcucci, who is the marketing/public relations officer for the Palace Theater in Waterbury and one of the co-hosts for the evening.
Kicking off the evening will be a video by Marcucci’s co-host, Emmy-awardwinning TV host/producer David Bibbey, formerly host of CPTV’s “All Things Connecticut.” One highlight will be a spontaneous artistic creation that melds live music, dance and art. The music element brings together three world-class musicians in the newly named group, The New Dinosaurs.
The trio of musicians includes Dave Anderson, former bass player for Art Garfunkel and Blood Sweat and Tears, horn player Don Harris, an “American Idol” music arranger, and Tyger MacNeal, Jose Feliciano’s percussionist. They will be joined by classically trained dancers from Brass City Ballet, while artist Judy Tourangeau captures the performance scene in caricature art. Other surprises are planned, along with finger food, a cash bar and time for socializing and networking.
The event is hosted by the ACC. Cost at the door is $10. To register in advance or for information, contact the Arts & Culture Collaborative at 203-757-0701, ext. 316 or email dploch@waterburyregionarts.com
