Mercy High School of Middletown won its first state title (Class LL) since 2013 to capture the No. 1 slot in the final New Haven Register/GameTime CT Girls Basketball State poll.

RHAM captured the Class L state crown to move from No. 8 to No. 2 in the poll.

New London, which had been undefeated through the regular season and won the ECC Division I tourney, saw its chance to repeat as Class LL champs end in the semifinals in a 69-61 loss to Enfield and fell to No. 5 in the poll.

Farmington, who lost to RHAM in the Class L final, and Class S champion Coginchaug, which won its first state crown in six years, joined the final poll.
