Craving a new stitch? Try Brioche
Brioche will be on the menu at In Sheep’s Clothing,on Sunday.
No, not the rich egg and butter French rolls, but Brioche knitting.
The Brioche stitch is often intimidating to knitters, although it is really only a combination of slipped stitches and yarn overs.
The term Brioche is a broadly used term to cover a variety of pattern stitches that create a ribbed look which creates a both squishy and lofty fabric.
This pleasing texture is perfect for accessories such as scarves and cowls.
The fisherman rib is often referred to as a type of brioche, due to its visual similarity, but technically is not worked like the Brioche stitch.
Knitting instructor, Kerri Walsh will be teaching the featured Brioche hat in her class, Sunday, 10 a.m. to noon.
Participants have the choice of working the hat in their choice of either two solid colors, or a shown here in one mule colored yarn and one solid.
Knitters must have basic knitting skill, and is geared towards advanced beginners.
The hat is worked in the round. There is homework, which requires working the ribbing before class.
Students must register in advance.
