Italian classes offered at senior center
TORRINGTON — The Sullivan Senior Center, 88 East Albert St., is offering Intermediate Italian II classes on Tuesdays, from 2:304:30 p.m., beginning May 9. The course is designed for those with a solid foundation in basic grammar and a strong vocabulary. The lessons cover conversation, grammar, culture, and reading. The required text is “Italian Two and Three Years” Workbook, 2nd edition, by Tursi and Cincinnato, available online (out of print). The cost for the 12-week course is $85 for seniors and students/ $105 others.
Two Italian classes will be offered at St. Michael's Church, South St., Litchfield. Basic Italian II will be offered on Thursdays, from 2:45-4:45 p.m., beginning April 19. This beginner's course is designed for those who have had an introduction to the Italian language. The lessons cover conversation, grammar, culture, and very basic reading. The required text is “Italian Made Simple,” 1960 edition, by Jackson and Lopreato, available online (out of print). The cost for the 12-week course is $90 for seniors and students/ $105 others.
Intermediate Italian I will be offered on Fridays, from 1:30--3:00 p.m., beginning April 20. This course is designed for those who have studied basic grammar and vocabulary. The lessons include conversation, grammar, culture, and reading. The required text is “Prego! An Invitation to Italian,” 3rd edition, by Graziana Lazzarino, available online (out of print). The required reader is “L'ultimo Caravaggio” by Federica Campanini, ISBN: 88-86440-25-1. The cost for the 12-week course is $90 for seniors and students/ $105 others.
