TORRINGTON — Public school music students were recognized for their performances in local, regional, and state festivals at this week’s Board of Education meeting.
Each young person was called forward to receive a certificate marking their achievement from Superintendent Denise Clemons and board chairman Fiona Cappabianca, and were recognized with a round of applause from those in attendance.
Students honored included Ashley Civelli, Ashton Tyler, Ayden Kevorkian, Jayson Bubel, Carmen Pochet, Aubrie Dell’Agnese, Emma Andrighetti, Katherine Hass, Jacob Cousens, Julia Fritz, Jayson Kozlowski, Kaitlyn LaPierre, Maggie Schnyer, Mazda Delgado, MJ McGillicuddy, Natalie Garrison, Natalie Kwasnick, Sarah Pastre, Paul LaRosa, Pedrocarlo Otarola, Richard Buttafuso, Spencer Miers, Kate Stedman, Justin Torres, and William Wilson, according to the agenda for the evening’s meeting.
“All the students here have worked very hard, and they’ve represented Torrington to the highest caliber,” said Director of Instrumental Music and Music Technology Wayne Splettstoeszer. “On behalf of all the music teachers and all the parents, we’d like to thank you for allowing us to recognize you tonight.”
Splettstoeszer was also celebrated Wednesday, and Clemons presented him a certificate marking his “outstanding contributions to the music program at (the) Torrington Public Schools,” and efforts to aid the band in receiving a superior rating from the American School Band Directors’ Association.
