Nominations wanted for honorary parade marshals

TORRINGTON — The Torrington Veterans Support Committee is seeking nominations for honorary parade marshals for this year’s Memorial Day parade and ceremony.

Nominees must be a resident of Torrington, and be willing and able to accept the honor, participate in the parade, and be recognized during the ceremony which takes place in Coe Memorial Park following the parade. Posthumous nominations also accepted, if family member(s) agree to participate.

To nominate a veteran, submit the nominee’s name, address, telephone number, and email (if available) along with their branch of service, rank, and the years they served, a brief reason for the nomination, your name and telephone#.

Nominees must be able to provide proof of their honorable discharge (form DD-214).

If chosen, the person or the person nominating them must provide a short biography of public, military, and family life, for publication in the Memorial Day Ceremony program booklet.
