RIVERTON FISHING DERBY: The much-anticipate­d Riverton Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, April 14 on the West Branch of the Farmington Riverton. Pancake breakfast, 4 ap.m. at Riverton Fire Department firehouse, is followed by the derby from 6-10 a.m. Bring catch back to the firehouse for weigh-in. Zak’s Pool is designated for kids 10 and under. Uncle Aaron’s Tackle Shack & Tony Fillie will have a dozen rod and reels ready to be used for the derby including bait. Grand prize is a Hitchcock Chair, other prizes provided. Stocking is Friday at 5 p.m. from the Riverton Bridge. MOURNING EXHIBIT OPENING: The Litchfield Historical Society announces its new exhibit, “To Weep with Those Who Weep: Mourning Practices in Litchfield,” on view from Saturday, April 14-Sunday, Nov. 25.
