‘Godspell’ opens Saturday at the Thomaston Opera House
THOMASTON — Landmark Community Theatre is pleased to present the sensational musical, “Godspell” on its main stage.
Under the direction of Ed Bassett, with music direction of David Irvine, and choreography by Emily Diedrich, this series of musical parables follows Jesus’s life up to and including his crucifixion.
Based on the Gospel according to Matthew, “Godspell” follows Jesus as he recruits followers and teaches them various lessons through song and dance.
This group of 13 followers, through a variety of modern music set to traditional hymns, help express Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance, and love. Each disciple takes on a new message or song, including John the Baptist and Judas, played by Dr. Dan Fedrick, who represents both the first follower and betrayer of Jesus.
The rest of the cast is made up of LCT regulars and newcomers including Jane Coughlin, Loretta Fedrick, Ryan Holub, Steffon Sampson, Bronwyn Hamill, Dee Anderson, Nick Komons, Tessa Coleman, Christine Mitchell, Amanda Gross, Rhiannon Carta, Cheyenne Walent, Aric Martin, Chrissy Flynn, Martha Irving, Robert Melendez, and David Nichols. “Godspell” is about the formation of community; coming together to create a “Beautiful City” of Man.
“Godspell” opens Saturday, April 21 with performances on April 27-28 and May 4-5 at 8 p.m. and April 22 and April 29 and May 6 at 2 p.m.
