Miles for Moe Fund gets $15K
TORRINGTON — Katherine Marchand-Beyer of LARC and Emil Renzullo, representatives of the Miles for Moe Fund of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation presented a check for $15,000 to Camp MOE to support camperships and camp needs, on April 12.
Named for Emil “Moe” Renzullo Jr., who died in 2010, the Miles for Moe Fund provides camperships at the camp that bears his name, Camp MOE, as well as other causes affecting children in the Northwest Corner.
Grants from the fund have helped parents of children being treated for cancer at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, purchased thermometers for the center’s treatment rooms and provided toys for children having medical procedures at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Camp MOE was the first independent reverse-integrated summer camp in New England and is a popular summer camp destination for children in the Northwest Corner. Camp MOE has grown from 50 campers to hundreds of campers each summer. The Miles for Moe Fund is supported through annual fundraisers.
