Flanders to hold annual 5K run
WOODBURY — Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust will hold the fourth annual “Field & Forest” 5 K trail run on Friday, June 8, 6 p.m. at the Flanders Van Vleck sanctuary. All ages and skill levels of runners, joggers and walkers are welcome to register for the 3.1-mile run/walk through the trails and rolling hills of the nature center. After the race participants will enjoy a celebration with food trucks and stations which include La Tavola pizza truck, pulled pork sliders from Bantam’s Wood’s Pit BBQ, a burger station, the Comfort Zone truck which offers an array of specialty toppings on pretzels, and beer from Woodbury Brewing Company. Live music will be provided by the popular local rock band, Root Six.
A registration fee of $35 for 13 years or older includes the run or walk, two food truck items and for those over age 21, a complimentary craft beer. This fee goes up to $40 between June 1 and June 7th and to $45 on race day.
For younger walkers and runners age 12 and under, the fee is $30 through June 7 or $35 the day of the race which also includes the vouchers for food items. Online fees are extra. Additional food and drinks will be available for purchase by spectators and participants.
Those signing up before May 6 will receive a performance race t-shirt. Awards will be given to top male and female finishers overall as well as in 8 age categories ranging from age under 10 to over 60.

The race will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and will be held rain or shine; however, Flanders reserves the right to cancel in the case of lightening. The event cannot accommodate strollers or pets on the course.
