Spring Power-Up of vintage machines
KENT — The CT Antique Machinery Association (CAMA) presents its Spring Power-Up, a celebration of the machinery that made America great, May 5-6, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Giant steam engines, a steam locomotive, gas engines, farm tractors: CAMA’s collection of steam and gas powered machinery will be in full operation on this day. Vendors will be selling a variety of old machinery, engines and tools.
CAMA’s museum campus on RTE 7 just north of Kent center, contains not just the largest collection of operating industrial steam engines in the state, but also separate collections devoted to large and small internal combustion engines, farm tractors and agricultural machinery, a narrow gauge railroad featuring Hawaii Railway Co. #5, a restored and operational 1925 steam locomotive, the CT Museum of Mining and Mineral Science, the historic Cream Hill Agricultural School, an operating blacksmith shop, and an operating sawmill exhibit. 12 exhibit buildings on 8 acres.

Those signing up before May 6 will receive a performance race t-shirt. Awards will be given to top male and female finishers overall as well as in 8 age categories ranging from age under 10 to over 60.

The race will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and will be held rain or shine; however, Flanders reserves the right to cancel in the case of lightning. The event cannot accommodate strollers or pets.
