Williams to perform at concert, church

TORRINGTON — Vocalist, music producer and local radio personality, Jacque Williams will perform May 5 and May 6.

On May 5, Williams will perform with gospel and performing artists at the Open Bible Church, 139 Litchfield Road in Torrington, from 2 to 4 p.m. Local musician Wilbert Boles is hosting and emceeing this gospel extravaganza with gospel music rapper Mike G, local artists Pat and Kate, the Workman AME Gospel Choir and Williams, accompanied by pianist Michael Doerr.

“There is a musical movement happening in our region,” Williams said. “Many congregations are using music as a way to fill the pews. I believe it’s a novel idea because people need a release in their lives to help them cope with the day to day challenges that we are all faced with. Music can be a fantastic medium to help people heal, celebrate, and identify their daily trials, triumphs, and tribulations. Gospel music is an expression of that power and faith that we all need at those times in our lives to help us focus and move on.”

On May 6, Williams will return to perform at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church located at 247 New Milford Turnpike, Marble Dale; in conjunction with its First Sunday of the Month Revival performances.

“This is my second performance at St. Andrew’s (1st Sunday Revival and they will continue through the spring and summer,” Williams said. “St. Andrew’s is committed and very serious about their plans for revival through music. The church is over 200 years old and the members are prepared to make an impact for the next 200 years.”

“It’s very exciting to see everyone working together for the common good; bringing people together and sharing the good news of the gospel through music,” he said. I am so proud to be involved in this effort...I plan to do my part to help in uniting the community. There is so much talent hidden in the Northwest Corner; I think we should celebrate these treasures.”
