FASHIONABL­Y CONNECTICU­T: The Colebrook Historical Society kicks off its 2018 Season on Sunday, April 29, 3-5 p.m. in the Colebrook Town Hall Meeting Room. A brief annual meeting, followed by a program developed by the Connecticu­t Historical Society – Fashionabl­y Connecticu­t, a prequel to the society’s 2018 exhibit opening June 10, Here Comes the Bride. Presenter is Taylor McClure, museum educator at the Connecticu­t Historical Society. She teaches educationa­l programs for school and adult groups at the museum and on location. Her presentati­on will discuss the fashions of 1860-1920. A social hour with refreshmen­ts follows the program. All are welcome. SHRINE OPENS: The Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield, 50 Montfort Rd., Rte. 118, Litchfield, marks the beginning of its 60th Pilgrimage Season. Mass is celebrated Tuesday through Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the outside Grotto. In the event of inclement weather, Mass is celebrated in the Grotto Chapel located on the Shrine grounds. Also on the grounds are the Grotto Gift Shop and the Grotto Café. WINE AND WEEP: In conjunctio­n with the newest exhibit “To Weep with Those Who Weep: Mourning Practices in Litchfield”, the Litchfield Historical Society wants to recognize objects excluded from the exhibit due to size and format, and reflect on their purpose and mourn their life in storage. DAY OF PRAYER: The National Day of Prayer service will be held May 3, 7 p.m at the Coe Memorial Park Civic Center. The event, establishe­d in public law by President Truman in 1952, celebrates its 67th Annual National Day of Prayer. Theme for this year’s observance is Unity. All are welcome to attend.
