SHRINE OPENS: The Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield, 50 Montfort Rd., Rte. 118, Litchfield, marks the beginning of its 60th Pilgrimage Season. Mass is celebrated Tuesday through Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the outside Grotto. In the event of inclement weather, Mass is celebrated in the Grotto Chapel located on the Shrine grounds. Also on the grounds are the Grotto Gift Shop and the Grotto Café. WINE AND WEEP: In conjunction with the newest exhibit “To Weep with Those Who Weep: Mourning Practices in Litchfield”, the Litchfield Historical Society wants to recognize objects excluded from the exhibit due to size and format, and reflect on their purpose and mourn their life in storage. O & G has arranged for offsite parking at Iffland Lumber, Ron’s Auto, and the Bogue Road plant with bus transportation provided by All Star. The event caps Safety Week and features over 20 different trucks and vehicles plus vehicles from the Torrington Fire Department and Police Department. Admission $2, with all proceeds benefiting the new construction exhibit at KidsPlay Children’s Museum. There will be face painting and events. Food vendors will include Frankie’s Hot Dogs, Kona Ice, and Bella Serra Restaurant.
BARBERSHOP CHORUS: The HousaTonics Barbershop Chorus will host a Northwest Corner Community Singalong on Saturday, May 12 from 5-7 p.m. at the Salisbury Congregational Church.
