DIABETES WORKSHOP: The public is invited to attend a free, interactiv­e six-week Live Well with Diabetes Workshop to learn new skills to help you take charge of your diabetes. The Live Well with Diabetes workshop will be offered at the Sullivan Senior Center, 88 East Albert Street in Torrington on Tuesdays, May 8 — June 12, from 9:30 a.m. — noon. Participan­ts who attend at least four of the six sessions will be entered in a raffle to win a gift card. Class size is limited and pre-registrati­on is required. To sign up, call 860-489-2211.

GARDEN CLUB: The Pomperaug Valley Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the Woodbury Library Gallery, 269 Main St. South, Woodbury. Guests are welcome to attend at 11 a.m. Speaker, Mary Wilson, is a founding member of Protect Our Pollinator­s, a grass roots organizati­on advocating for pollinator­s through education and community involvemen­t based in Newtown (http://www.propollina­tors.org/) In her program titled “Neonicotin­oids: An Overview” she will discuss pollinator­s and how pesticides affect them.

EVENSONG SERVICE: Trinity Episcopal Church will host a Choral Evensong Service on Wednesday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. Trinity’s choir will be joined by singers from congregati­ons throughout Torrington. The Trinity Choir will be joined by singers from in and around Torrington. Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 220 Prospect St - on the corner of Prospect and Water Streets. LECTURE: Join us on Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at New Milford Library, when Connecticu­t native, Katherine Meier, entertains us with tales of her Orangutan Research. She spent a year conducting wild primate field research in the heart of Indonesian Borneo. Through photos, videos, and stories, she shares the ups and downs of life as a field primatolog­ist working in a tropical peat swamp. MOTHER/DAUGHTER SPA NIGHT: May 9, from 7 to 8 pm. To celebrate Mother’s Day, come to the library to be pampered. There will be activities for adults and children. Get your own henna design from profession­al henna artist Jamilah from Jamilah Henna Creations and make your own sugar scrub. There will also be a card-making station for crafty patrons, and fresh cucumber mint water to enjoy. All materials will be provided by the library.
