CORNWALL BUDGET MEETING: The Town of Cornwall will hold its annual Budget Town Meeting on May 18, 7:30 p.m. at the Cornwall Consolidat­ed School. There are three items on the agenda: the 2018-2019 budget, funding for a used road grader and funding for new docks at the town beach.

WAMPUM WORKSHOP: Wampum Today, a workshop, will be held Saturday, 1-3 p.m. at the Institute for American Indian Studies, Curtis Road, Washington. Participan­ts will learn about the significan­ce of wampum and how it continues to provide a social and spiritual bong among Native communitie­s. ROTARY PET PARADE: The 82nd Annual Rotary Pet Parade will be held Saturday, May 19, 2 p.m. on Winsted’s Main Street – rain or shine. All children from Winsted, Torrington, Norfolk, New Hartford, Barkhamste­d and Colebrook are invited to participat­e in this annual spring tradition organized by the Torrington – Winsted Area Rotary Club. The parade will have 12 parade divisions; four marching bands – St. Peter’s Drum Corp, Regional 7 Middle School, The Gilbert Middle School, and the Pearson School Band; and bagpiper Ken Storrs; Rotary and local dignitarie­s; the 2017 Laurel Queen Grace Valickis and Laurel King Dylan Thomsen; the 2018 Pet Parade Poster Contest Winner and other schools’ top winners; the Forbes Flyers; and the Honorary Parade Marshal – Ellen Griesediec­k – Executive Director of the American Mural Project.

FREE LIBRARY OPENING: The David M. Hunt Library will unveil its Britishthe­med Little Free Library, or LFL, at Toymakers Café, 85 Main Street in Falls Village, on Saturday May 19, at 4 p.m. It is a replica of the iconic British red phone box and will be stuffed with free books for the whole community, visitors, and hikers of all ages.
