Joyful Noise’s All Choirs Festival offers ‘Canta Conmigo’
Trinity Episcopal Church event set for June 2
TORRINGTON — Joyful Noise’s annual All Choirs Festival will be painted with vibrant, lively images of South America. “Canta Conmigo,” (“sing with me”) will be held on Saturday, June 2, at 4 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, Torrington.
The concert will feature collaboration of sound between current members of the Chorus Angelicus and Gaudeamus and the award winning Elqui Trio!
Elqui Trio! is equally at home performing both classical and South American folk music.
The ensemble’s repertoire ranges from Baroque and newly commissioned pieces, to folk music learned in South America by oral tradition.
Andean woodwind specialist and flutist Gonzalo Cortés, charango and viola player Carlos Boltes and guitarist Scott Hill have forged careers as chamber musicians and soloists with choirs and orchestras throughout Europe as well as North, Central, and South America.
The festival activities will give all involved the opportunity to connect with old friends and make new acquaintances, all while singing together and performing in concert.
The program will highlight incredibly powerful music with Latin roots, featuring spirited sounds from the instrumentalists in combination with the pure voices of the choristers.
Following the concert, there will be a reception for all choristers, family and friends.
