‘Finally Home’ collection drive coming soon
Northwest Connecticut’s Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with United Way of Northwest Connecticut, will present its first “Finally Home” collection drive on Saturday at 150 Price Road, Winsted.
Students with the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program are broken up into teams to plan and complete a self-directed, communityoriented service project. This year, “Team 3” created the project “Finally Home,” a community effort to provide new or gently used household items including furniture, small appliance, linens and non-perishable food donations to assist individuals and families that are transitioning from a shelter to permanent housing.
In 2017 FISH, Friends in Service to Humanity Homeless Shelter of Torrington, placed more than 70 families into housing. There is a significant demand for items that need to be collected for individuals to get back on their feet in the Northwest Connecticut area. Many local residents have items taking up space in their homes and may like to consider donating their gently used items to Finally Home to help those in need.
Tax receipts can be provided upon request.
Additional details can be found at www.northwestunitedway.org, or on Facebook by searching “Finally Home” under Events.
“Finally Home” will continue long after this year’s Leadership Program is completed. Contact the United Way of Northwest Connecticut for donation requests or volunteer opportunities. It is located at 333 Kennedy Drive, Suite R101, P.O. Box 59, Torrington, CT 06790, 860-4894131, or Owen@northwestunitedway.org
