NO TRASH PICKUP: There will be no curbside collection of trash and recyclables on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29 in Torrington. There will be a one-day delay for pick up of all municipal solid waste and recyclables collection for the remainder of the week following Memorial Day. Friday’s regularly scheduled collection will be on Saturday. The regular schedule will resume the following week.

AUDUBON MEETING, DINNER: The Litchfield Hills Audubon Society’s annual meeting and dinner is scheduled for Monday, June 4 at Chatterly’s Banquet Facility, 371 Pinewoods Road, Torrington, with a social hour at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m., and the annual meeting at 7:15 p.m., followed by a program at 7:30. “Audubon in Action” will be presented by National Audubon Society president David Yarnold. WHEELS AND HEELS: The fifth annual Wheels & Heels 5K / 10K Road Race will be held June 2 on Valley Road, Harwinton. Wheels & Heels Road Race new addition this year (2018) of a 10K Road Race, in Memory of Jamie Kirchner. HISTORY CLUB: The Gunn Historical Museum’s Washington History Club at Night will meet in the Wykeham Room of the Gunn Library on Tuesday, June 5, 6:30 p.m. The topic is the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, which was founded in 1926 and has been protecting the community for over 90 years, and their annual summer carnival which started in 1937 and provided entertainment to generations of Washington’s residents. Bring your favorite stories and memories to share. The program is free and all are welcome.
