Local students receive hospital scholarships
TORRINGTON — Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s Auxiliary recently awarded 12 local students $1,000 scholarships to pursue higher education opportunities at a recent hospital reception.
The auxiliary recently presented awards to 10 students pursuing an education in the healthcare field with the honor after a thorough review process of many qualified candidates. The awardees were Jacqueline O. Nicholas, Paul Durstin Alderete, Alexa Nicole Sanson, Megan Elizabeth Facteau, Kathleen Bridget Morton, Lindsey Marie Rouleau, Lilli Taylor Ferrucci, Erin Elizabeth Gonchar, Brooke Murphy Neller, and Cameron John Rouleau. Also awarded was the Joseph Curi, M.D. Memorial Scholarship to Zachary Golden Kwalick and the J. Alfred Fabro, MD Memorial Scholarship to Rebecca Ann Kraus.
Judith Hogan, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee said, “The Auxiliary received 53 scholarship applications this year, all from exceptional students who intend to pursue healthcare careers. We wish we were able to able to present a scholarship to each student who applied. They are the caregivers of the future.”
The CHH Auxiliary celebrated 100 years of supporting Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in 2016. It has been a significant source of physical and financial aid to the Hospital. The CHH Auxiliary has over 200 volunteer members who assist in raising funds for CHH through donations, the gift shop, and special fundraising events.
