TORRINGTON — The Torrington Historical Society is currently working on an exhibit about Torrington during the World War 1 years of 1914 - 1918. Torrington sent nearly 1,400 men and women into the service and in addition, contributed to the war effort through industrial production and home front activities such as the Red Cross, war loan drives, the War Chest and the Home Guard.

The museum is still searching for items to enhance the exhibit. Do you have a photograph, uniform, object or document about a Torrington serviceman or woman who served in World War 1? Or perhaps you have an item relating to a Torrington industry or one of the home front activities? If so, the Torrington Historical Society would like to hear from you. Itmes must be specific to World War 1 as it relates to Torrington.

If you have World War 1 materials that might be of interest to the Society, please contact Gail Kruppa at 860-482-8260 or at torringtonhistorical@snet.net.
