TORRINGTON — City police are seeking a man suspected of attempting to burglarize a house on Monday.

On Monday morning, Torrington Police Department officers responded to a call about a man who had entered a house on Eno Avenue.

Residents at the home told police that an unknown man rang the doorbell just after 8 a.m. After getting no response, the suspect walked to the rear of the home and allegedly entered through an open window into the kitchen.

A juvenile female, who was in a bedroom at the time, was awakened by the noise of the suspect coming through the window, police said.

The juvenile and the suspect spoke briefly. “The male ultimately left after trying to make an excuse for being inside,” according to police.

The male did not take anything from the residence, nor did he physically harm the juvenile, police said.

The male suspect was described as being in his early 20s, with spiked brown hair, brown eyes, and a small patch of facial hair on his lower lip. He is said to be approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a thin build and a tan complexion, possibly Hispanic, according to police. He has tattoos on his arms and was described as having missing or decayed teeth.

Investigators have reason to believe the male may have been in the area of Eno Avenue and surrounding streets in the days leading up to this event. Anyone who may have come into contact with or observed an individual matching the description is encouraged to contact Detective Keith Dablain at 860-489-2040.

The case is being handled by the department’s detective division.
