Choral union to sing at Shed

NORFOLK — The Litchfield County Choral Union, led by Jonathan F. Babbitt, music director, celebrates its 119th season with a concert featuring works by Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé. Performers include organist David Enlow, Alexandra Whitfield, soprano; Allison Messier, mezzo-soprano, and David Tinervia, baritone.

The concert will be held at 3 p.m. July 29 at the The Music Shed on the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Estate in Norfolk.

According to the group’s website, the Litchfield County Choral Union is a community chorus serving northweste­rn Connecticu­t, eastern New York and western Massachuse­tts with the finest of the choral art for 119 years. The chorus performs at the 1906 Music Shed on Ellen Battell Stoeckel Estate in Norfolk for performanc­es under the direction of Jonathan F. Babbitt.

Numbering on average 75 members, the Choral Union is open to all singers without audition and strives to carry out the spirit of its dedication in 1899, “to honor the composer and his works in the most elevated conditions.”
