Kent Presents offers annual community grants
KENT — KentPresents is preparing its fourth year of community grants for non-profit organizations in Litchfield County under its KentProvides program. Last year the organization, headed by Kent residents Ben and Donna Rosen, donated $125,000 to 38 local groups to help fund activities that benefit people in need, according to a press release.
Last year’s awards went to organizations such as Jane Lloyd Fund, Northwest Corner Fund for Substance Abuse, Children’s Center of New Milford, Community Culinary Institute of NW CT, Gathering Place of Torrington, Greenwoods Counseling Referrals, Kent Affordable Housing, Kent Community Fund, Kent Education Center and Nursery, Kent Memorial Library, Kent Village Housing for the Elderly, Literacy Volunteers on the Green, and Loaves and Fishes Hospitality House.
Charitable organizations eligible for 2018 awards must demonstrate that they are tax-exempt under Section 50l(c)(3) of the IRS code and provide social and emergency services, housing, educational and economic opportunities and enhance the cultural and artistic lives of low and moderate-income individuals and families in Kent, Conn., and nearby communities. Special emphasis will be placed on organizations that provide basic food and housing needs, emergency services and educational programs.
