High school gets tech funding
TORRINGTON — The State Bond Commission recently awarded Torrington High School $249,996 in state aid for the purchase of 300 Chromebooks, 10 carts, 42 desktop computers, lab technology equipment and various pieces of furniture and equipment upgrades, according to a press release.
State Rep. Michelle Cook, DTorrington, and several other legislators supported the grant application through the Connecticut Department of Education to invest in the school’s technology initiative to meet the district’s 21st century learning objectives, according to the release.
“Receiving funding to advance Torrington High School’s academic programs is going to work to ensure students are career and college ready,” Cook said in the release.
The programs in Torrington Schools are diverse and meet the learning objectives set by the state, and technology is being incorporated in curriculum and instruction to create unique, personalized learning opportunities for students,” Cook said in the release.
These upgrades come as part of the district’s three year strategic plan, which seeks to implement strategies to enhance student learning and development of programs.
Two of the components of the plan focus on incorporating technology to build students’ digital learning skills and upgrades to facilities and classroom equipment to facilitate student learning and development.
