KAA Members II show opens Saturday
KENT — Accomplished and emerging artists of the Kent Art Association exhibit their latest work in its second show open to the association’s 300-plus members, according to a news release from organizers.
The KAA Members shows feature an exciting, colorful and eclectic assemblage of artwork ranging from quiet landscapes to colorful abstractions in all mediums, including but not limited to watercolor, oils, acrylics, photography and sculpture. Sizes range from large pieces that demand attention to small works that fit easily into any space.

show offers something for everyone; with artwork that fits all spaces, tastes and pocketbooks.
The opening reception and presentation of awards is Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Gallery at Kent, 21 S. Main St. Gallery hours are Thursday to Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. The judges are Mary Anne Carley and Werner Kappes. The Members II Show runs Aug. 4 to 26.
⏩ During the Kent Summer Festival there will be a Clothesline Art Sale on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. on the front porch of the gallery. All artwork is priced to sell at $100 or less and nothing will be larger than 11-inches-by-14-inches without the frame.
⏩ On exhibit on the front lawn is a stainless steel sculpture of a 1920s flapper created by the W. David Herman Gallery in Kent especially for the art association’s 95th anniversary.
⏩ There are two lectures scheduled for August in the “Discovering Our Founders” lecture series. The first, on Aug. 11, is on sculptor Willard Paddock. presented by artists Deborah Chabrian and Ed Martinez, who own Paddock’s Kent home and have done extensive research on him.
The second is on Aug. 25, when former KAA president Paul Gould will talk about his friend, James Floyd Clymer, and Clymer’s father-in-law, Frederick Judd Waugh. Thelectures are at 3 p.m. in the KAA Gallery.
⏩ The next show is the fall juried show, Sept. 8 to Oct. 8. Regular gallery hours are 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday to Sunday. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
