CT Choral Society invites residents to join Summer Sing

-

NEWTOWN — The Connecticut Choral Society invites the public to join the chorus for an evening of song as they perform the classic ode to fate and fortune, Carmina Burana. This summer sing-along is an annual event that allows singers interested in choral music to get a sense of what it would be like to sing with a choral ensemble and to meet the wonderful members of the Choral Society in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Scores will be provided on loan for those who need them and snacks and beverages will help complete your welcome to the world of choral music.

The Summer Sing will be held in the Glover Community Room at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown, on Monday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m. Registration is $10 and participants are asked to visit www.ctchoralsociety.org to preregister to ensure there will enough scores available for those singing. Non-singers are also welcome to register and come listen to an evening filled with song.

This is also an opportunity for aspiring vocalists to sing under the baton of Eric Dale Knapp, a conductor whose talents have been featured on the worldwide stage. Maestro Knapp currently serves as Artistic Director and Conductor for the Connecticut Choral Society and the New Jersey Choral Society and is principal conductor for the New American Festival Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. His ability to communicate with musicians at all levels allows the singers under his direction to stir the souls of their audiences.
