Ohler helps obtain grant for Salisbury Central
SALISBURY – State Representative Brian Ohler, R-North Canaan, helped secure a grant that will improve the safety infrastructure of the Salisbury Central School, according to a press release issued Monday.
The Salisbury Pathways Committee applied to the Department of Transportation’s Community Connectivity Grant Program to request funding for the construction of a sidewalk, a bridge across the brook, and an actuated pedestrian signal and crosswalk for a section of Routes 41 and 44 in Salisbury.
Ohler wrote a letter of support for the Salisbury Pathways Committee’s request to be positively acted upon by the DOT.
“These improvements will accommodate pedestrians in our rural community business center, increase safety of school children, provide safe egress of emergency vehicles from the fire house as well as bring a long-lasting and environmentally responsive development of a business district,” Ohler wrote.
According to Salisbury Pathways Committee, the improvements will provide direct access to the emergency shelter for students.
