Celebrate fair season in Colebrook, Goshen
For many, Labor Day weekend marks the start of “fair season” and Litchfield County’s long-running Goshen Fair, accompanied for one day by the smaller Colebrook Fair, are both on the calendar of events.
The Colebrook Fair
The 74th annual Colebrook Fair is set for Saturday, Sept. 1 on the Green in the center of town. The fair opens at 9 a.m. with crafters, artists and other vendors, booths offering a variety of food and a tag sale. A children’s pie-eating contest and a frog-jumping contest, as well as a Cardboard Boat Regatta in the town pond, aim to provide plenty of fun for children.
The fair will also have pony rides, a petting zoo, a Touch-A-Truck exhibit and games for children. Residents are encouraged to bring their own pets for the fair’s annual pet show — registration and contact information is provided below.
A special feature of the fair is its 6th annual car show, featuring antique and collectible vehicles owned by local residents.
There is no admission charge to attend and parking is available free, as is a shuttle service. The fair is held in Colebrook’s town center at the intersections of Route 183 and Route 182A.
