‘The Sparks of Torrington’ concert

TORRINGTON—On Sept. 13, Noelke Gallery, 15 Water St., will be hosting The Sparks of Torrington from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The concert will feature performanc­es by local musicians and bands Amelia Ellis, Sophic Bloom, Ian Matthew, Old Bones, Living Weary, Yankee Blues, and American Amnesia. The line-up covers a range of genres, from acoustic folk and blues to 90s alternativ­e to punk and hip hop. All ages are welcome and admission is $5 to $10 per person. Proceeds benefit the artists.

The Sparks of Torrington comes with a strong, albeit simple, environmen­tal message: clean streets rock. On Sept.15, the City of Torrington will be holding its 5th annual Clean Up the World event. This concert serves not just to bring entertainm­ent into the city, but also to rally people for the clean up event.

Milton church to hold tag, bake sale

LITCHFIELD —Milton Congregati­onal Church of Litchfield will hold its annual tag and bake sale Friday, Sept. 21, and Saturday, Sept. 22, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 23, 12-3 p.m. at the church, 548 Milton Road, Milton Center, Litchfield, four miles off Route 202.

Sunday is a real bargain day. The tag sale offers furniture to antiques, jewelry to linens, books to lamps, tools to toys. The ladies of the church will sell their famous homemade jams, jellies, pickles, relish, and baked goods for sale. Door prizes feature items donated by local area merchants including a cord of firewood from each of two donors. Again this year, a “Seasonal Celebratio­n” room will have decoration­s for any occasion. Cash or checks are accepted. Stop to enjoy a gourmet hot dog from Salty Dog Hot Dogs.

Chorale invites prospectiv­e singers

WATERBURY —The director of the Waterbury Chorale, Joseph J. Jacovino Jr., invites prospectiv­e new singers, in all vocal sections, to attend rehearsals on Mondays Sept 10 or Sept 17 at 7 p.m., to meet other members and participat­e in informal auditions, which will begin after rehearsal at 9:15 p.m.

The chorale rehearses at the United Methodist Church, 305 Main St, Watertown, at the intersecti­on of Routes 63 and 6).

The chorale season will include a concert of traditiona­l, multicultu­ral, and inspiratio­nal music for the holiday season on Dec. 7 and Dec. 9, as well as a spring concert of Mozart’s Requiem and Bruckner’s Te Deum.

Warner holding Wine & Food Tasting

TORRINGTON —The Warner Theatre will hold its 17th Annual Wine & Food Tasting on Friday, Oct. 26, 6-9 p.m., presented in associatio­n with The Cork Fine Wine & Spirits and sponsored by Thomaston Savings Bank. This year’s fundraisin­g event is bigger and better than ever! The Cork will generously donate 10 percent of all wine sales that evening back to the theatre! General admission tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door and VIP admission tickets are $75.

For 16 years, the Warner has hosted the Wine & Food Tasting fundraisin­g event, spanning both the Main and Studio Lobbies, drawing crowds of wine, beer and food lovers from throughout Northwest Connecticu­t and beyond. This year’s event, features selections from over 30 internatio­nal and local wine, craft beer and spirit vendors, foods from area bakeries and restaurant­s and an auction featuring gift certificat­es, wine packages and other items.

Miles for Moe 5K set in Torrington

The Miles 4 Moe Foundation will present its ninth annual 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, Sept. 16. The foundation continues the legacy of Emil “Moe” Renzullo, by supporting organizati­ons such as Camp MOE that provide an outdoor camp experience to children of all abilities. The foundation also supports families who have a child diagnosed with cancer, as well as hospitals and organizati­ons that treat these children.

The Harvest Fest 5K will start and finish at Camp MOE at 1145 Brandy Hill Road, Torrington, which consists of paved and gravel roads with rolling hills and fall foliage views. Both runners and walkers are welcome. Onsite registrati­on will be from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m., and the race will begin at 10 a.m. Participan­ts can also register online or download and mail the registrati­on form from https://miles4moe.org/. Finishers will be greeted at the finish line by announcer Dan Lovallo. The race will be timed by Fast Track Timing.

Vendor space available for festival

WINSTED — Friends of Main Street’s Winsted Annual Fall Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Booth space reservatio­ns are now being accepted. Fees for booth space for Winsted business owners, non-profit local groups and church groups are waived this year as a ‘thank you for all you do for our fine town.” Fees for out-of-town vendors are also substantia­lly reduced this year.
