Panthers’ Olsen breaks foot

The Panthers will be without three-time Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen and secondteam All-Pro Bowl right tackle Daryl Williams for the foreseeabl­e future. The team announced Olsen re-fractured the right foot that kept him out of nine games last season in Sunday’s win over Dallas. Olsen will not have surgery and will be reevaluate­d on a “monthly basis.” He’ll remain on the team’s 53man roster. Williams suffered an undisclose­d knee injury and will need surgery . ... The Redskins re-signed wide receiver Brian Quick. The team announced the signing Tuesday in a flurry of roster moves that included putting rookie receiver Cam Sims on injured reserve. Quick spent last season with Washington and was released Sept. 1 . ... The Falcons placed linebacker Deion Jones on injured reserve. Jones hurt his foot in Thursday night’s loss at Philadelph­ia . ... The Packers placed receiver and return man Trevor Davis on injured reserve, and claimed cornerback Deante Burton off waivers from the Falcons. Davis missed the Packers’ season opener against Chicago on Sunday after showing up at Lambeau Field with a sore hamstring a couple of hours before the game . ... The Broncos signed special teams ace Shamarko Thomas to their 53-man roster. The sixth-year pro who played for the Steelers and Bills replaces kick returner Isaiah McKenzie . ... The Jaguars released defensive tackle Michael Bennett to clear a spot for suspended defensive end Dante Fowler. Fowler rejoined the team Monday. Fowler was suspended for the season opener at the Giants following a 2017 arrest. Bennett played in 14 games since the Jaguars selected him in the sixth round of the 2015 draft.
