Auditions scheduled for musical
TORRINGTON — The Warner Stage Company will hold open auditions for the musical production of “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” Oct. 15 and Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. Auditions are by appointment only. Callbacks will be held Oct. 18, 8:30 p.m.
The production is directed and choreographed by Meredith Porri with music direction by TJ Thompson. It will be presented in the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre for 8 performances, opening Dec. 8.
All roles are open for audition. The company is seeking an ensemble cast of 14 adults, 18 or older, for this production: 5-6 men, 5-6 women; with featured characters Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and Snoopy. Snoopy can be played by either a male or female. Auditioners must bring sheet music and be prepared to sing 32 bars, but no more than one minute, of a fully memorized Broadway-style musical selection that showcases their vocal range.
Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. An accompanist will be provided. A cappella singing, instrumentals on CD, Tape, iPod, MP3 Player or digital recorder will not be allowed. Auditioners will also be asked to read from the script and perform a short dance/movement combination that may be taught at the audition. Auditioners should dress comfortably.
Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., beginning Tuesday, Oct. 23. Tech week rehearsals will be Sunday through Thursday, Dec, 2-6. Hold Dec. 7 for an additional tech week rehearsal if needed. There will be one midweek rehearsal Dec. 13. Performance dates are Dec. 8, 9, 15 and 16, 1 and 4 p.m.
