MILTON TAG, BAKE SALE: Milton Congregational Church of Litchfield will hold its annual tag and bake sale Sunday, Sept.23, 12-3 p.m. at the church, 548 Milton Road, Milton Center, off Route 202 in Litchfield. Sunday is a bargain day. The tag sale will offer everything from furniture to antiques, jewelry to linens, books to lamps, tools to toys. Church ladies will sell their famous homemade jams, jellies, pickles, relish, and baked goods. Door prizes feature items donated by local area merchants. This year there are a cord of firewood from each of two donors. A “Seasonal Celebration” room will have decorations for any occasion. Cash or checks are accepted. Don’t forget to have a gourmet hot dog from Salty Dog.

AUTHOR TALK: The Litchfield Historical Society is hosting a talk with the former Connecticut State Archaeologist Nick Bellantoni about his new book “The Long Journeys Home: The Repatriations of Henry ‘O pu kaha‘ia and Albert Afraid of Hawk,” on Sunday, September 23 at 3 p.m. Book talks are free for members and $5 for non-members. LAND TRUST TRAIL RACE: The Norfolk Land Trust will host its 5K- and 10K-trail race Sunday, Sept. 23, with the start and finish for both races at the Barbour Woods trailhead at 75 Lovers Lane. Local farmers will have fresh produce, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, soaps, crafts, and other seasonal items for sale. HISTORY OF CLOCK MAKING: Jim Katzin will give a presentation on the rich history of clock making in Litchfield, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at the East Litchfield Chapel, 62 East Litchfield Road South, Litchfield. He will have several examples of locally made clocks and movements from the early to mid 19th century. Katzin, an East Litchfield native, has been repairing and collecting American clocks for over 25 years. A life member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, he was president of the CT chapter of the organization for 12 years. HISTORY OF THE HOLLOW: History of the Hollow, about the chronological development of the Maple Hollow section of Bakerville, covering from 1774 – 1850, will be held Sept. 25, 7 p.m. at the Bakerville Library Annex, Maple Hollow Road, New Hartford, and co-sponsored by the New Hartford Historical Society, presented by David Krimmel, resident and former town historian. BLOOD DRIVE: The Torrington Woman’s Club will sponsor a Red Cross blood drive, Sept. 27, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Peter Church Hall, 109 East Main Street, Torrington. Entry is on the right side of the church hall off the driveway. Club volunteers will assist the Red Cross by greeting and registering donors, and providing sandwiches and refreshments.
