Public invited to take part in art show

- STAFF REPORTS

FALLS VILLAGE — The David M. Hunt Library Artwall in Falls Village invites the public to participate in the eighth annual year-end group flash art exhibit, 12X12 Beauty.

This year’s exhibit is intended to present beautiful images that inspire, strengthen and heal the heart and eyes of the beholder, according to a news release. This flash exhibit will have a reception Dec. 8 from 5-7 p.m. All works will be sold at $100 each and can be taken home at the end of the reception. Remaining works will be on display through Jan. 5. A portion of each sale benefits the library.

All work, including any framing (optional), should maintain 12-inch-by-12-inch dimensions. To achieve symmetry of hanging, the committee requests that works include hanging hardware affixed exactly two inches below the top of the backing of the piece. Works on paper can be free of hanging material with the understanding that they will be installed with clips by staff.

All media is accepted including, but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, works on paper, and ready-mades. No free-standing sculpture, but 3-dimension work is permitted within a 12-by-12 hanging format.

All work will be offered for sale at $100 each. Proceeds may be split 50-50 between artist and library or the artist may gift the work outright for the full benefit of the Hunt Library. For 50-50 sales, artists will be paid directly by the buyers while the artist agrees to remit a donation to the library equaling 50 percent of overall sales.

For details, contact the Hunt Artwall committee by Oct. 27 at 860-824-7572 or email at garthkobal@comcast.net.
