Sixth annual yarn crawl this weekend
It’s time to grab a knitting buddy and hit the road for the sixth annual yarn crawl. “Crawlers” can visit the six participating yarn western Connecticut yarn stores: In Sheep’s Clothing in Torrington, Knits & Pearls in Avon, New England Yarn and Spindle in Southington, A Stitch in Time in Bethel), nancy O in Ridgefield, and Westport Yarns in Westport.
The yarn crawl is the brainchild of the Western Ct Yarn Council, of which all six stores belong. Autumn was considered the perfect time for yarn lovers to shop their way from store to store, while enjoying a weekend of picturesque scenery. Fiber lovers can pick up their free passports at any of the participating stores, to guide them along the way.
All the participating stores are stocked up on special yarns and knitting goodies just for this highly anticipated weekend. Many of the shops are hosting special events, knitwear and jewelry trunk shows, as well as fun activities.
The Yarn Council is appreciative to the yarn companies that have provided additional door prizes to all the stores. Free raffle tickets are included with passports for the nightly drawings. Yarn crawlers may visit as many of the shops as they choose.
Those who have their passports stamped at every shop will go into a drawing for a grand prize, which includes $25 gift certificates from every shop.
This year, the yarn crawl is adding an additional day and will run Thursday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
