The vigil raises awareness of domestic violence, honors survivors and remembers those who have lost their lives. The vigil also provides an opportunit­y to give a voice to survivors and their families during its “Speak Out” portion.

WINSTED TRUNK OR TREAT: Trunk or Treat with the Winsted Recreation Department will be held Oct. 27. Pre-registered volunteers will be handing out candy from the trunk of their cars to Winsted ghosts and goblins from 4:30 to 6 p.m. There will also be a bounce house and arts and crafts. TRUNK OR TREAT: The City of Torrington Parks & Recreation Department, in conjunctio­n with the Torrington Lions Club, Torrington Municipal & Teachers Federal Credit Union, and Doyle’s Medical Supply will host a Trunk or Treat event, Oct. 27, 4-6 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Torrington Armory located at 153 South Main St. Those decorating their cars and giving out candy must register with Parks & Recreation and arrive by 2:30 p.m. You must provide your own candy. TOUR-DE-FOREST: Norfolk will host the first ever Tour-de-Forest, a bike ride through Great Mountain Forest, Oct. 27. The ride starts at the Norfolk Curling Club, where attendees will be offered refreshmen­ts and Curling Club demonstrat­ions if they wish, prize drawings cap off the festivitie­s. Proceeds from this event will support the on-going developmen­t of the Norfolk “Rails To Trails” and the Great Mountain Forest’s mission to encourage the investigat­ion, research, discovery and applicatio­n of knowledge for forest lands and natural resources.

FALL FESTIVAL, FAIR: A Fall Festival & Craft Fair will be held Oct. 27, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 21 Fern Drive, Torrington, with more than 30 crafters and artisans, homemade pies, country store, candy, attic treasures, books and the highlight of the fair, a silent auction.
