Benefit promises a tasty evening
KENT — Kent Affordable Housing will present its 13th annual benefit and sale of pies, art, artifacts and local services at St. Andrew’s Parish Hall in Kent, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2-3.
A preview party for the annual “Night of A Thousand Pies” is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 featuring local craft beers and wine. It’s also an opportunity — before the general public — to purchase home-made and Kentmade products from creative individuals in town. Reservations to the party are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
Bakers and Makers is open to all on Nov. 3 from 10 am. to 4 p.m. In addition to baked goods, the sale will showcase crafts, gifts, art, services, edibles and specialties demonstrating the variety of interests, backgrounds and talents in Kent. The items for sale will include carvings, fiber arts, books, plants, lessons, paintings and prints, ceramics, photographs, personal services, housewares, edibles and the like.
Guests will also find plenty of the traditional pies along with an array of baked delicacies from local kitchens. Pies, tarts, cakes, cookies and other baked treats made by Kent home bakers and restaurants can be taken home and enjoyed, or frozen for the upcoming holidays.
Proceeds from Bakers and Makers provide financing for Kent Affordable Housing’s mission to develop homes for citizens with modest incomes and help KAH maintain the high quality of the rentals it now provides to about 50 individuals in town. Five new apartments were opened at Stuart Farm this summer, and three more will begin construction in the spring of 2019.
