Economic Summit & Business Survey

Northwest Connecticut’s Chamber of Commerce will welcome economists Peter Gioia and Donald Klepper-Smith as the keynote speakers at our annual Economic Summit on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Torrington Country Club.

Over the last several weeks, CBIA and the Chamber have been conducting the 2018 survey of businesses. The leaders of Northwest Connecticut’s business community were surveyed about their company’s outlook, as well as finding and retaining the next generation of employees and making Connecticut economically competitive. The survey results will be reviewed and discussed at the summit.

The survey sponsors include: Torrington Savings Bank, Pequot Health Care, Chamber Insurance Trust, BantamWesson, Conquest, Dymax, HealthQuest, Litchfield Bancorp, Northwest Community Bank and O&G Industries. Mr. KlepperSmith’s participation in the summit is made possible through a grant from the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board.

Chamber members and guests are welcome to attend the summit, which begins at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $30 per person for Northwest Connecticut Chamber members, $40 per person for affiliate Chamber members and $50 per person for nonmembers. For information or to make your reservation, please visit nwctchamberofcommerce.org/calendar or call 860-482-6586.

2nd Leads Group Forming

Following the success of the Chamber’s inaugural Leads Group this past summer, the second group has been formed and will begin meeting in January.

Leads Group II will be co-captained by Joe Finke of Liberty Mutual and Carla DuBois of People’s United Bank.

The purpose of the Leads Groups is for members to form alliances with one another, to identify prospects, and foster increased business; ultimately growing their customer base through a supportive network. Enrollment is based on a “first to respond” basis due to the format permitting only one individual per industry.

At each Leads meeting, members are allowed to share details of their business, provide testimonials/referrals to other group members, and each meeting concludes with a 15-20 minute focus on one member or a beneficial activity for the group.

If you would like to participate in Leads Group II, please contact Anita Rosa at the Chamber office at 860-482-6586 or email anita@nwctchamberofcommerce.org. A waiting list has been established and those on the list will have the first option of joining the group.
