WOMEN’S CLUB: The Torrington Women’s Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Center Congregational Church. The program will feature Mikalla Zanetti of Spirit of the Horse Farm in Morris, who trains and provides therapy animals and service animals.

FREE CAR WASH: Free Car Wash for Veterans & Military Personnel will be provided at Swell’s Car Wash, Winsted, Nov. 5-12. This is the 10th year Swell’s Car Wash is offering a free car wash in recognition of Veterans Day.

LITCHFIELD HILLS AUDUBON: The Litchfield Hills Audubon Society will meet Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m., at the Litchfield Community Center, Route 202, Litchfield. “Fascinating Facts about Fishers” will be presented by Diane Edwards, Master Conservationist. The program is free and all are welcome.

VOTER REGISTRATION: Warren’s Voting Registrars will hold a session Nov. 5, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. to register new voters, those whose qualifications as to age, citizenship, or residency was attained since Oct. 31. WINCHESTER REGISTRARS SESSION: A final, limited registration session will be held Monday, Nov. 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Winchester Registrars’ office, for those seeking to vote whose qualification as to age, citizenship or residence was attained since Oct. 31. DINNER AND DISCUSSION: Families and friends of those who struggle with substance use are invited for a dinner and discussion night at McCall Center for Behavioral Health, 51 High St., Torrington. HARWINTON VETERANS DAY CEREMONY. The Harwinton American Legion Post 137 will conduct a Veterans Day ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 11, 11 a.m. on the town green at the intersection of South Rd and Rte 4/Burlington Road. The ceremony will include a guest speaker and the honoring of each of this year’s deceased Harwinton veterans. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony at Community Hall across from the green. In the event of bad weather, the ceremony will be held in the Town Hall, 100 Bentley Drive.

TORRINGTON VETERANS DAY CEREMONY: The Torrington Veterans Service Committee and local posts and veterans organizations will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at Coe Memorial Park, Torrington, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. A special ceremony marking the 100th aniversary of the signing of the Armistice ending WWI will be held at 11 a.m. All are invited to attend. If it rains or snows, the program will be held in the park’s civic center.

COMEMMORATIVE SERVICE: St. Michael’s Parish will present a commemorative service for the 100th Anniversary of the World War I Armistice on Veterans Day Sunday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m., with readings and music by Thomas Tallis, Hubert Parry, John Goff, Edward Maylor. The Remembrance Choir from Rhode Island will be featured. There will be a free will offering and all are welcome to a reception immediately following the service.

WW I MONUMENTS: World War I Monuments at the Goshen Public Library will be held Nov. 12, 4 p.m. Richard Franklin Donohue, Cromwell Town Historian, will display images of the monuments and explore trends in their design and placement, with special emphasis placed on the memorials of the hosting town and vicinity.
