Playhouse on Park presents newest Playwright on Park

- PLAYHOUSE ON PARK

WEST HARTFORD — Join Playhouse on Park in celebrating the Greater Hartford area as a premiere destination for the cultivation of innovative theatrical work. The Playwrights on Park Reading Series was created for this very purpose, and our next evening in this exciting series is Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. with Kristen Palmer’s “Mysteries of the Unknown” (an analog comedy).

“Mysteries of the Unknown” is a comedy about privilege in a world before smart phones. All the rules have changed and yet, the cute white guy always ends up winning. In the year 2000, in New York City, Suze and Charlie answer phones at the TimeLife Books office. They fill orders for CD sets and process requests for books of general knowledge. They are being phased out. A new digital age is on the horizon.

Kristen Palmer’s plays include “Once Upon A Bride There Was A Forest,” “Things You Can Do,” “Local Story,” “Departures,” and “All The Girls Love Bobby Kennedy.” Her writing has been produced and/or developed by Soho Rep, Orlando Shakespeare Festival, Women’s Project/ WP Theater, New Georges, Capital Rep, FLUX Ensemble, The Brick, Live Girls! Theater, and Circle X among others. Awards include a Jerome Fellowship at the Playwrights Center, the Goldberg and Zarkower Prizes at Hunter College, and a CT State Artist Award. She holds an MFA in Playwriting from Hunter College, an MA from the Gallatin School at NYU, a BA from Bretton Hall College of the University of Leeds, and is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild.

The mission of Playwrights on Park is to produce original plays and musicals written by emerging playwrights. Each reading

features a new work, where audience members participate in a talk back session with the playwright, director and cast members. Audience members are also provided with response cards at the end of each reading. Additionally, there is a talkback segment featuring the Playwright and cast after each reading.

All tickets are $10 each, general admission. For tickets, call the box office at 860-523-5900 x10, or visit www.playhouseonpark.org. Playhouse on Park is at 244 Park Ave., West Hartford.
