Greenway group to hold beautification day

-

LITCHFIELD — The Friends of the Litchfield Community Greenway is hosting its first annual Beautification Day, Nov. 10 from 12-3 p.m.

Participants in this family-oriented event, “Let’s Turn the Greenway to Gold,” will help plant hundreds of golden daffodil bulbs along the greenway. Activities will also include pumpkin painting. Complimentary food, beverages and Arethusa ice cream will be provided.

Volunteers should meet at Bantam Borough Hall, 890 Bantam Road/Rt. 202, any time between noon and 3 p.m. to pick up their bulbs and soil, as well as directions to the greenway trailhead on Whites Wood Road. Individuals and family members are encouraged to bring gloves and trowels for planting.

Bulbs are provided courtesy of Litchfield Hills Nursery.

FLCG president Clifford Cooper said the group is very excited about the open house. “Unfortunately we had to reschedule the event, but we’re looking forward to a great turnout on the 10th,” he said. “The continuing help and support of people like those joining us for Beautification Day is enabling us to create what is truly a community greenway.”
