SALUTE TO VETERANS: Congregational Church Of Burlington’s free music concert series continues Sunday Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. with the all-female Big Band, Flamingo, at the church, 263 Spielman Highway/Route 4, Burlington. The concert celebrates veterans and includes a reception with refreshments after the show. Donations are welcome; admission is free. Call 860-4626678 for information.
HONORING VETERANS: The Institute for American Indian Studies, 38 Curtis Road, Washington, will hold a traditional ceremony at 12 p.m. with prayers and drumming to honor the contributions and valor of Native American veterans Charles Lindberg Kilson, Sr. and his brother Earl Anderson Kilson, Senior of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation. SESSIONS CANCELLED: The Healing Modalities Institute is cancelling sessions from Nov. 11 through Feb. 10, 2019. The sessions, held at The Owl Center in Depot Square Mall, 51 Depot Street Suite 2130 Watertown, will return on March 10, 2019. FINAL STEAM VENT: Steam Vent Coffee House will hold its final event of the fall season, Nov. 11, 6-10 p.m. at First Church of Winsted, 95 North Main St. Featured performers include: Bill Buttner, Addy Punkin, Bill Benson, Paula Ryan, Melanie Michaud, Joel Blumert, and the Klerks with Sam Guglielmino. There is an open mic from 6-6:30 p.m. with sign-up the night of the event. Music is freem donations are accepted toward Children’s Missions. Soup, Salad and Grilled Cheese night in the Cafe, served from 6-8 p.m., full meals $11. A la carte also available.
HARWINTON VETERANS DAY CEREMONY. The Harwinton American Legion Post 137 will conduct a Veterans Day ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 11, 11 a.m. on the town green at the intersection of South Rd and Rte 4/Burlington Road. The ceremony will include a guest speaker and the honoring of each of this year’s deceased Harwinton veterans. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony at Community Hall across from the green. In the event of bad weather, the ceremony will be held in the Town Hall, 100 Bentley Drive.
TORRINGTON VETERANS DAY CEREMONY: The Torrington Veterans Service Committee and local posts and veterans organizations will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at Coe Memorial Park, Torrington, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. A special ceremony marking the 100th aniversary of the signing of the Armistice ending WWI will be held at 11 a.m. All are invited to attend. If it rains or snows, the program will be held in the park’s civic center.
GOSHEN PLAYERS: The Goshen Players will stage “Almost, Maine” Oct. 26-27, Nov. 2-3, Nov. 10-11, 8 p.m. ,Oct. 28, Nov. 4, 3 p.m. All tickets for the cabaret seating are reserved for $22. FREE CAR WASH: Free Car Wash for Veterans & Military Personnel will be provided at Swell’s Car Wash, Winsted, Nov. 5-12. This is the 10th year Swell’s Car Wash is offering a free car wash in recognition of Veterans Day.
COMEMMORATIVE SERVICE: St. Michael’s Parish will present a commemorative service for the 100th Anniversary of the World War I Armistice on Veterans Day Sunday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m., with readings and music by Thomas Tallis, Hubert Parry, John Goff, Edward Maylor. The Remembrance Choir from Rhode Island will be featured. There will be a free will offering and all are welcome to a reception immediately following the service.
Monday, Nov. 12
BINGO: St. Maron’s Church, 613 Main St., Torrington, holds bingo games every Monday and Friday. Doors open at 4 p.m. Early bingo beings at 6 p.m., with progressive jackpots and food for sale.

WW I MONUMENTS: World War I Monuments at the Goshen Public Library will be held Nov. 12, 4 p.m. Richard Franklin Donohue, Cromwell Town Historian, will display images of the monuments and explore trends in their design and placement, with special emphasis placed on the memorials of the hosting town and vicinity. MANAGING DIABETES: The Cornwall Library will present a class, Managing Your Diabetes, Nov. 12, 19, 26, Dec. 3, 10 and 17, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with an optional walk at 9:30 a.m. This is a continuation of the free diabetes course offered by Anne Hummel.
ROXBURY VETERANS: The town of Roxbury and the Roxbury Council on Aging is honoring its veterans with a reception on Monday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. at the Roxbury Senior Center, 7 South Street. All Roxbury veterans are invited to attend.

EARTH FILM, SUPPER: Earth Film & Soup Supper: “Billions in Change” will be shown Nov. 14, 6:30 p.m. at Church of Christ, 5 Old Middle St., Goshen. Admission is free and the filming is preceded by a soup supper.
DAR AWARDS: The Brooks-Green Woods Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at the Barkhamsted Community Room, Route 44, Barkhamsted, Nov. 14, 7 p.m. Good Citizen Awards will be presented to area high school students during the meeting. REGION 7 PLAY: “Radium Girls,” a play written by D.W. Gregory will be presented by Northwestern Regional 7’s Theatre Program, Nov. 16-17, 7 p.m., Nov. 18, 2 p.m. in the Les Ober Theatre at 100 Battistoni Drive in Winsted. This production is directed by Keith Winegar. Admission is general seating, and tickets are $10 adults, $8 students, $5 seniors (for the Sunday show) Tickets will be sold at the door.
