Thirty years and counting ...

- JOANN RYAN

Anita began her career at the chamber in 1988 under president Michael Witte-Meredith.

Hal Urban, in his book “Life’s Greatest Lessons: 20 Things That Matter,” writes about the “simple rules of life.”

They describe Anita Rosa, the chamber’s Vice President of Finance & Operations, and her 30 years with the chamber. This is essential:

1. “Choose a good attitude, no matter what the circumstances. Keep a positive outlook on life, and always be thankful.”

2. “Build your life on a foundation of respect…Love your family and friends, and be kind to others. Bring out the best in everyone, including yourself.”

3. “Make integrity the cornerstone of your life. Follow the rules, play fair, and be honest in all things.”

4. “Accept the difficulties and challenges of life. Work hard at everything you do. And if you fail, try again.”

5. “Have a passion to learn. The more you discover about life and the world, the more complete and fulfilled you’ll become. Make it a lifelong process.”

6. “Enjoy life. Remember that you need to play and have fun. And most of all, you need to laugh.”

Anita began her career at the chamber in 1988 under president Michael WitteMeredith. She was a senior at Torrington High School and participated in the work release program. Following graduation, she accepted a full time position as the receptionist. Her duties included everything from typing, filing, answering phones to working with the Chamber staff in preparing for many events and programs. Her intelligence, positive attitude and enthusiasm were evident from day one.

A story from former president Bill Harding, told only as Bill could tell it, was that there was a change in staff under his leadership. One

morning, he walked into her office and informed her that she would be taking over the finances of the organization. Not to be overcome by a surprising challenge, Anita, possessing the talent and ability to get things done, quickly learned what she needed to do to work with the chamber leadership, staff, board and volunteers, to keep the chamber moving forward financially. In this capacity, she has never waivered.

Anita is loyal, creative and honest, committed to excellence as a team player, determined to get things done and fun. She possesses a thorough knowledge of this region, its citizens and the value that the chamber brings to the community.

For me, in my 17-plus years at the chamber, it is a privilege to work with Anita Rosa. On behalf of the chamber staff, Board of Directors and our members, thank you, Anita, for your 30 years of service and dedication. We look forward to many, many more.
