Festival of Trees set to begin Saturday

- NOBLE HORIZONS

SALISBURY — The Noble Horizons Auxiliary in Salisbury will present its annual Festival of Trees exhibit and Gala celebrating the 2018 Holiday Season. The exhibit of individually crafted trees, wreathes, and Christmas decorations opens on Saturday, Nov. 17, and is a free event for everyone to visit and enjoy. The event ends on Saturday evening, Dec. 1, with a Gala party, for which tickets will be sold. The exhibit runs for two weeks, open every day from noon to 4 p.m.; Thursday and Friday until 6 p.m.

The theme for this year’s festival will be “Christmas Around the World.” Noble’s Community Room will reflect the idea that Christmas has been celebrated over many centuries and across the globe. This year, Hotchkiss School’s students in the arts department will decorate the entryway to the festival, and, as always, the children at Salisbury Central and other local children’s programs will contribute decorated trees for the Children’s Corner.

Exhibits will be offered to the public in a silent auction which takes place during the two weeks of the Festival, with final bidding at the Gala. In addition to enjoying the displays, visitors will be able to buy raffle tickets for two deluxe children’s toys, and an opportunity to contribute special services such as haircuts and manicures to Noble residents through gifts to the Loving Tree.

During the two-week exhibit the Festival hosts groups from local daycare centers, schools and nursing homes. These guests enjoy seeing the decorations, listening to Mrs. Claus reading a holiday story, singing songs, and having refreshments. The displays are created and donated by many individuals, students, merchants and organizations from our tri-state area. People in our local communities participate in bringing the Christmas spirit onto Noble’s campus by their generous contributions of exhibits or by sponsoring the event.

All event proceeds are used for special purchases and extra activities for the residents of Noble Horizons.
