KEEP AN EYE ON

Freshman 15: Brendan Adams is averaging exactly 15 minutes per game for the Huskies, but that figure was skewed a bit after last week’s action in New York City. Adams, the team’s lone freshman, played just 16 combined minutes in the games against Syracuse and Iowa. Dan Hurley was so focused on beating Syracuse that he left most of the game to his veterans, and Adams played just six minutes. That number improved to just 10 the next night in the loss to Iowa. Hurley recognized he needed to get Adams more minutes, and the 6-foot-4 guard got a career-best 21 against Cornell on Tuesday. He responded with a careerhigh eight points. Nutmeg flavor: UNH has a pair of players from Connecticut on its roster. Mark Carbone, a 6-foot-2 junior guard from Wethersfield, is averaging 5 points per game. Carbone starred at East Catholic High before playing his freshman season at the University of San Diego. He transferred after that season and sat out last year for the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, freshman Nick Guadarrama is averaging 9.5 points and 5 rebounds off the UNH bench. Guadarrama, a 6-5, 220-pound forward, hails from Newington but attended Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania the past couple of seasons.

Hello, old friend: UConn has faced UNH more than any other opponent (117) over the years except URI. The Huskies own a 92-25 all-time record, most recently an 85-66 win on Nov. 17, 2015 at Gampel. UConn has won the last nine meetings dating back to January, 1984. UNH’s last win over the Huskies was on Jan. 9, 1983. Its most recent road win in the series was on Jan. 3, 1974.
