KidsPlay holding winter break activities
TORRINGTON — KidsPlay Children’s Museum in Torrington will be open daily from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6 for Winter Break. STEAM week will be held from Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Sunday, Dec. 30. For this week of special programs, each day will center around a different part of STEAM, including science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
Science Day, Dec. 26, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Explore and learn with handson science experiments from 12 to 2 p.m.
Technology Day, Dec. 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Learn the basics of coding with littleBits kits and create paths with circuits in the museum’s Maker Space from 12 to 2 p.m.
Engineering Day, Dec. 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Practice creative and problem-solving skills while building with LEGO bricks all day. Display the construction, and enjoy special recognitions at 3 p.m.
Arts Day, Dec. 29, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Come in for a day to express your artistic side and celebrate all kinds of art. Get creative making messy art and musical art and more.
Math Day, Dec. 30, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Experience board games, get creative, and make one to bring home and share.
Countdown to noon, Dec. 31, 12-3 p.m. Enjoy a kid friendly New Year celebration. KidsPlay will host the 5th annual countdown to noon and 3 pm with a balloon drop.
The museum will remain open daily with signature child caregiver programs through Sunday, January 6. Following STEAM week, kick off the new year by taking things apart and discovering what’s inside, starting with calendars and clocks.
The museum will post up-to-date activity schedules and announcements on the Museum’s website, www.kidsplaymuseum.org, and on the Museum’s Facebook page. Founded in 2012, KidsPlay Children’s Museum is a not-for-profit 501-c-3 institution with more than 11,000 square feet of interactive hands-on exhibits and many educational programs.
