Meeting to discuss town’s 300th anniversary
LITCHFIELD — The Litchfield Patriots LLC will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 5 p.m. at the Litchfield Historical Society, South Street.
The meeting will start with introductions and social time before a discussion at 5:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the 300th Anniversary of Litchfield in 2019, the Litchfield Patriots are planning a living history event on the green to celebrate the hundreds of local citizens who participated in the Revolutionary War.
More than 500 men went off to join regiments, but many activities to support the war effort took place within the Town of Litchfield.
At this meeting, Tim Abbott, a Revolutionary War historian, will give an update on the participants and the history events that will take place on Sept. 7.
Beth Murphy will report on the logistics of the events and Lee Losee will speak about plans to create a monument to those patriotic citizens in time for the 250th anniversary of the War for Independence in 2026.
Interested persons are invited to attend the meeting. Those wishing to join and support the efforts described here can contribute $10 for a year’s membership. Litchfield Patriots LLC is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
