Sharon Hospital to hold stop smoking classes
SHARON — To help people live a smoke-free life, Sharon Hospital will offer a Freshstart smoking cessation program from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., beginning Monday, Jan. 14, in the hospital’s Board Conference room, 50 Hospital Hill Road.
The program is for community benefit and has no cost. Registration is required.
The first four-session program begins Monday, Jan. 14, and continues on Thursday, Jan. 17, Monday, Jan. 21, and Thursday, Jan. 24.
The second four-session program begins on Monday, March 18, and continues on Thursday, March 21, Monday, March 25, and Thursday, March 28.
The program, designed for individuals interested in learning more about specific tools and strategies for quitting smoking, incorporates the most current guidelines for tobacco cessation support into face-to-face group support sessions.
“At each session, participants have the opportunity to share their experiences and find support from others who may understand their journey,” said Jim Hutchison, program facilitator and clinical navigator for the hospital.
Discussion topics include Stress management; how to identify and avoid triggers; useful medications to use while quitting; and staying active during and after you quit.
The Freshstart program was created by the American Cancer Society to help individuals quit smoking and enjoy the benefits of better health.
